Alcohol and Chronic Disease
Description:
Develop and deliver material/workshops highlighting the link between alcohol and chronic disease.
Includes participation in provincial Low Risk Drinking and Chronic Disease project and Alcohol and Health Status Web campaign.
Presentations include: 2 to groups at local libraries, 2 "Not Just Medication" that included discussion on alcohol and disease links, 1 "Driving in the Golden Years" that included discussion on alcohol and chronic disease links, & 1 Seniors symppsium.
Multiple media strategies included various newspaper ads, bus shelter ads, bus signs, SHHU publications, radio ads, TV ads, and displays.

Population
To reduce the proportion of adult women and men who consume alcohol at levels that places them at risk for AOD injuries, chronic disease, illness, or death.
To reduce the proportion of illicit drug use.
To reduce the proportion of licensed drivers that report driving after consuming at least 2 drinks in the previous hour.
To reduce the proportion of youth (12-19 year olds) who consume alcohol at least once a week.
To reduce the rate of alcohol-related injuries, chronic disease, illness, or death.
To support reduced consumption of alcohol and other drug abuse, and associated alcohol and drug use behaviour changes made by the intended audience(s).
